Ricardo Changeux – dance2b Instructor

Born in Haiti, Rico came to the West Coast in 1984 where he lived in San Francisco until he was 23. Rico’s been dancing and performing hip-hop, R&B, jazz, and salsa, and studying martial arts & capoeira since he was living in Port-au-Prince. While living in L.A. and San Francisco, Rico traveled and performed with Jesse Powel’s R&B worldwide tour, Dru Hill, and Pras from the Fugees. He danced with Culture Shock in San Francisco, and directed the Nike- sponsored company in Los Angeles. He was featured in videos for performers such as Shanice, Dru Hill, Usher, and Michael Jackson. After relocating to Denver in 2000, Rico has since performed at the AFL Crush and NBA Nuggets’ half-time performances, with Israel Vibrations, and M.C. Hammer. He also continued to choreograph for, and work with, various artists in L.A. while he transitioned to living in Colorado. Currently, he is the founder and sole proprietor of Streetside Dance Studios in Boulder. In addition to teaching five classes a week, he also serves as a director for two performance troupes – one for children ages 5-9 and another for adults. Rico gives back to the Colorado community through dance, choreography, performance and public speaking. He’s made appearances and choreographed performances for groups such as: JRDF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation), YMCA of Boulder County, Boulder Valley School District, Attention Homes, Make-a-Wish Foundation, CU-Boulder Freshman orientation, Broomfield Heights Middle School afterschool DANCE program, and Whittier Elementary in Denver (not a complete list). Most recently, he was recognized as Boulder County’s 2011 Multicultural Award Winner (in the Arts field), and has been profiled in the Boulder Daily Camera and the Denver Post for his philanthropic work here and in Haiti.

“I like to teach dance in general to get people out of their outside life and mind for the hour they are in class. Dance is about remembering to let go and have fun. If you are new, no need to worry that everyone will be looking at you in class because in reality people don’t have time for that. They are there to dance, to learn, to live, to move. And that philosophy – “to move to live” is so real for me. I invite you to dance, move your body, and let go. Remember life is fun. Let’s dance to it!” – Rico

Since moving here Alfred has received his training by dancing with professionals with at least 15 years of training to his two, in hip hop!
